Have a great day everybody! I'm off to have a swim, eat some 12-hour smoked pulled pork, hang out with friends and listen to the Top 20 DnB broadcast on Gravity Radio.
Going in on Calibre's Shelflife Six and a bunch of other great tunes. Unfortunately, as there are 5 tracks by Calibre in this mix -- Americans miss out :( #dnb

#dnb For mix 100, I decided to go back and redo one of my earlier mixes that I was never happy with. So, without further ado, here we have the Session 14 redux.
I actually did this on January 17th, 2018 ... a year ago ... I know, I only just found the mix on one of my drives after the great NAS dead drives of 2017 incident.
#dnb Just a bunch of random tunes I happen to be into at the time I mixed this. It features some great liquid alongside some great tunes from the RAM stable and General Levy bootleg bookends as well, just because that song was so damn infectious.
Check out Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard in the video game turned movie by Ubisoft Pictures - Assassin's Creed; a game I played for awhile but got bored having to do the same mechanic over and over, but I have to say, this movie looks filth.
Here is a time lapse video I made of my entry for the Ludum Dare 34th GameJam, which took place on the weekend 12th December, 2015 to 15th December, 2015 GMT +10.
Jimmy Fallon and The Roots join Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong'o, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford for an acappella tribute to "Star Wars."
"Here's that showcase, where you can watch controllers being built entirely by robots. We aren't crazy though, so humans are still on hand to keep the robots from becoming sentient."
Looks like Cap and Stark are at odds over the Winter Soldier more than the Super Human Registration Act ... still, it gives them both motive. Looks filth too.
As last week was the 25th anniversary of A Tribe called Quest's debut LP, People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm, so it was a no brainer to talk about this LP. At the time, rap was dominated with tracks about hoes and gang violence and then along came this new sound (Native Tongues) and a new breed of rapper with artists like Jungle Brothers, Queen Latifah and De La Soul. Even their clothes ... no tracksuits or a gold chain in sight.
Standout tracks off this LP were this of course the hits, "I Left My Wallet in El Segundo" and "Can I Kick It ?" (which the band never saw any money due to label's mismanagement of the Lou Reed sample) but "Luck Of Lucien"'s jazzy french vibe and "Description of a Fool"'s flow were personal favs.
And they've just released this box set, which "the newly remastered album over eight vinyl small hole 45s, with unique artwork on each one along side a new bonus track (‘If The Papes Come (Remix)’) and three other songs not included on the original release. It all comes snuggly packed in a carrying case illustrated with the album’s original artwork." Want 1
My good friend Mike brought around this new game he got direct from the creator, Tim Fowler, a co-operative 1-4 player board game called Burgle Bros. which consisting of either 2 or 3 floors made up of revealable tiles. It's kinda like Monaco or Invisible Inc as a board game. It has some great mechanics (guard movement is brilliant) and is lots of fun.
#dnb Getting stuck into some of my favourite tunes of 2015 including tracks from Viper presents Drum & Bass Summer Slammers 2015. Face it tiger, you just hit the jackpot !
The second LP by BDP aka Boogie Down Productions was By All Means Necessary. This LP was famous for it's PSA hits "Stop the Violence", "Illegal Business" and "Jimmy", but for me, "Ya Slippin'" with KRS-One's countdown from 10, still gives me chills and "I'm Still #1", tells everyone what time it is.
When I bought this LP in my early teens, I recorded it onto a cassette tape and would play it non-stop on my walkman, as I travelled to and from school. It was so fresh and politically minded. It was also the first time I remember thinking that musically, I was in a different world to everyone else I knew.
A friend of mine got Rhino Hero (formerly known as Super Rhino) and we had a quick game. It's like Jenga and House of Cards had a baby and this game was born.
Netsky is back with a summer banger, collaborating with Digital Farm Animals - "Rio". #dnb
Wherever she goes, I go, we roll, we go
Flying over cities down to Rio, it's real
Love that I feel, well nothing lasts forever
But I'm down for the minute so just chill
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is the first military shooter set in a massive and responsive open world, entirely playable in 4 player co-op or solo.
Marvel and Warner Bros today released the first trailer for "Lego Marvel’s Avengers" the first video game featuring characters and storylines from the Avenger movies.
Kung Fury is an over-the-top 80’s action comedy that was crowd funded through Kickstarter. It features Kung Fury, a Kung Fu renegade cop who travels back in time to kill his Nemesis, Hitler. The film features nazis, dinosaurs, vikings and cheesy one-liners.
One and half hours of soul-inspired and classic Hospital Records tracks remastered as Fast Soul Music. It was an absolute joy to perform this mix, in fact, I had to restart it 3 times, as I was too busy grooving along, forgetting to mix in the next track :)
Space Colony is one of my all time favourite games. I bought the original - loved it and played it every year until they bought out Space Colony HD. I then continued to play it each year at Christmas and now Firefly Studios have released a new enhanced version for Steam.
"This remastered version of Space Colony features a brand new campaign, Steam Workshop support, achievements, trading cards and Steam Cloud for saved games.
Space Colony: Steam Edition is the definitive version of the sci-fi base builder for fans of the original, the builder genre and the Stronghold series, with which it shares DNA in both gameplay and an irreverent sense of humour."
Check out Marvel's latest reboot, sorry, reimagining of Fantastic Four. Being a big fan of the Ultimate Fantastic Four comic, I have to say I'm a little let down by this trailer. I'm actually thinking the Ioan Gruffudd version looks better.
"What if there was an Empire-focused short Star Wars animation, drawn with the crazy detail and shading of classic 80s anime that's all but vanished from Japan nowadays?"
A bit over 2 hours of some of the best Hospital Records tracks you'll ever hear. The first hour and a bit is a slice of Hospitality 2015 followed up in the second hour or so with an impromptu "back of the stack" selection of Hospital Classics.
** And yes I know, Mr L aka Jonny L isn't Hospital but I was feeling that tune at the time. It is a great track that never gets old.
Mmmm ... very serious indeed. I've heard the film will pick stories/plots from the Fantastic Four canon in order to make the best movie possible. Hopefully that's true.
It will be released in the US on the 19th June, 2015.
Listen to the guys talk about the fappening and my game. They really loved Blake's samples and that was certainly one of the funniest aspects when making it.
Back in February this year, Extra Credits did an excellent video on the phenomenon known as Simulation (or Simulator) Sickness. As a friend of mine recently got an Oculus Rift, and another has one in the mail, I tried it out and suffered from this reverse motion sickness, so I found this video to be very useful.
Should be interesting to see their follow-up video next year.
It's summertime vibes (and heat) with the help of my three favourite LPs released in 2014 by artists - Technimatic, Tokyo Prose and Logistics. There's also some Wilkinson and Rockwell thrown in there for good measure.
5 new characters – Gladiator, Amazon, Swashbuckler, Gypsy and philosopher, New board region for heroes to explore, 128 Dungeon Cards, 20 Spell Cards, 10 Adventure Cards and 10 Treasure Cards.

Recently I had a major issue with the cloud based syncing service - Dropbox. Prior to this, I would sing it's praises to everyone -- now, I'm not so sure.
Over the weekend of the 23rd/24th August, I participated in one of the best known and respected game jams, called Ludum Dare. Currently in it's 12th year, Ludum Dare (latin for "to give a game") is a two-part event, the compo (solo 48hrs) and the jam (solo/team 72hrs) to create a game based around a theme, which was announced on the weekend - Connected Worlds.
Ronan the Accuser from Guardians of the Galaxy, Green Goblin from Spider-Man, and Loki, God of Mischief from The Avengers have just been revealed as playable characters in the new Marvel Disney Infinity 2.0.
Check out the official video for Next Level by Bop, taken from his new LP - Punk's Not Dead (Med School Music)
It's not the best track, One Way to Mars is probably my favourite, however, it's the sampling of the Galaga extra ship music that makes it interesting. Nicely done.
Along with the LP, you can play the Bop 8bit (Unity Engine) video game - Bop's Quest.
He does it every year at Comic-Con, this year, Adam Savage (Mythbusters) debuts a costume he has been working on for almost a decade: the space suit from Ridley Scott's Alien!
Mad Max: Fury Road has been in development since 2003 and today at Comic Con, it's first trailer was made available. Personally, I like to pretend that Max Mad III never happened; it seems as though Fury Road takes it's look from that movie. At least, George Miller is back to making the movies that earned him respect.
Also, with music by Junkie XL, how could it not be cool ?
Check out Disney’s new animated series, in which the republic has fallen.
The voice cast includes Freddie Prinze Jr., Taylor Gray, Steve Blum (my all time fav voice actor), Tiya Sircar, Vanessa Marshall, Jason Isaacs, David Oyelowo and Billy Dee Williams - yep Lando himself.
I think this might have been better if it compared either the old movies with the new movie or the old cartoon vs the new cartoon. Anyway, the reactions, as usual, are good.
Weird Al has a big dictionary and he's back to school you, this time parodying Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams (again - let's face it, he is an easy target) "Blurred Lines".
Unfortunately, I only made it through 2 of the days and was out sick for the final and last day. So, what did I learn over the course of the weekend ?
It was fun.
Working on a project as a team is something I rarely get to do. I do all my coding on my own, it is only at work on manual labour jobs were I will get or give assistance.
The group of guys I was working with I knew only through random contacts when they were at UQ (where I work). I believe that due to their working on projects at university together and with deadlines, this in turn helped them to manage their time and work on the projects.
So, it's rare for me to conceptualise, write and release something in a weekend. I usually take weeks to craft and polish the apps I work on.
Government data is malformed.
Hindsight is a great thing and it was only after the aftermath of GovHack, that I realised the data is, for lack of a better word, bad. Sure it might be available in RSS or CSV -- parsing these wasn't the issue; it was the additional data that was not required (requiring sifting through) or were extensions of RSS or were data dumped into one column, which then required additional parsing.
The experienced members of my team, 1 worked on the front end, 1 on the back end setup and another on massaging and "fixing" the data, so when he was done, the coders would have a nice clean flow of data to use.
This is where I should have concentrated my efforts early on, as once you start coding, you can't really go back or change direction in a hurry.
Don't pick something that's too big.
Also don't be afraid to do what some others consider boring. On the Friday night, the brainstorming happens. Lots of ideas are thrown around, some good, some bad, some crazy but the best thing to do is have an idea that you can start to flesh out and be ready to start working on Saturday. This is what happened with the 3 other people I was working with, except we had come up with two ideas. It wasn't until the Saturday morning that I found out that the other 3 people were working on one of the ideas, which left nothing for me to do, except play around with the second idea.
If I had known this was going to be the case, I might have gone with one of the original ideas that was shot down for being "too boring". It might have been boring, but it was also achievable.
Don't stay too late.
I think this was my downfall, as I didn't get home on the Friday/Saturday night til after midnight. Walking 2-3kms in less then 4C temperatures, wasn't the best move, since I was up early the next morning and back at it for a full day. If I could do it again, I would go home earlier on the Friday and get a good rest for the coming Saturday and Sunday.
I also wouldn't stay so late on Saturday night either. I think next time, I would have go home around 5/6pm, had dinner, worked on the rest of the project from home and then come in early Sunday to finish it off / do the presentation video.
Will I do it again next year ? It's very tempting ... I guess we'll just have to see.
The Usual Suspects do a great job of mashing up the feel of Guardians (#gotg) with classic Star Wars. And for bonus points, here's a new one using the Prequels:-
If you don't know what Guardians of the Galaxy is, you should watch these trailers first.
Just 2 episodes to go in Yowamushi Pedal Season 1, so I thought I'd post up the official video of "Reclimb" by ROOKiEZ is PUNK'D -- the best opening music song the show has had. Pity it was only for the first 12 eps.
Tim Cook took to the stage to introduce the 25th anniversary of the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco. He, of course, talked about how the sales and account numbers were up and then quickly brought Craig Federighi on to show off the next version of the Mac Desktop -- OS X Yosemite (10.10
